As an innovative and future oriented commercial- and engineering company ITW is active in the field of promotion and development of renewable energies. With the existing electrotechnical know how and the experience in the utilization of geothermal energy ITW is also engaged in the field of geothermal power stations i.e. with the exploitation of geothermal energy for the production of electrical energy and heat.

In a geothermal power station hot water or steam is used to drive turbines. Whereby water is conducted in deep subterranean hollows, if it is not already there, where the water evaporates due to the high temperatures existing in the earths interior. The so produced steam or hot water respectively is via boreholes conducted to a power station at the earth’s surface and boosts turbines which in turn drive generators producing electric current. The steam or hot water used to drive the turbines can on demand additionally be used for heating purposes.
